Healthy Lifestyle Tips
Many of us are wanting to live a healthy lifestyle but we don’t necessarily know the right way to go about it.
We think that all we have to do is workout and eat healthier foods. Yes, of course that’s apart of it but there’s so much more to it.
Living a healthy lifestyle has a different meaning for everyone. My definition of living a healthy lifestyle is to try and keep your mind and body balanced.
You can only do so much, and when you have the opinions of society and social media that glorifies skinny physiques or strictly muscular physiques it’s hard not to think that’s what you’re supposed to look like.
I’ll be the first to tell you to set your own goals and try to block out the outside noise. Everyone’s health journey is different.
Don’t get stuck in what you think you should look like or what you should only eat. This is a healthy lifestyle, have fun and enjoy some of your favorites greasy meals every once in a while.
Here are 7 ways to start living a healthy lifestyle
Fitness
Fitness plays a big part in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Working out can help with fighting certain health conditions and diseases. Exercising can also give you a boost of energy and can improve your mood and sleep schedule.
These are just a few of the reasons why working out helps promote a better health lifestyle.
No one says you have to specifically go to the gym. Working out can be you doing some cardio around your neighborhood. Just as long as you’re trying sweating and exerting energy then you’re good!
I know nowadays, our lives are typically busy with working our full time jobs, focusing on your kids if you have any, etc.
You may not have time to go to the gym for a full hour workout. There are many quick workouts that you can do to fit into your busy schedule. Here’s a 30 minute workout that you can incorporate into your daily schedules.
Take it day by day. You can start slow with doing longer walk breaks, home workouts, etc. As long as you’re getting some type of workout in, you and your body will thank you in the long haul.
Take Vitamins
Vitamins are a huge factor in our daily health. Vitamins help you get the nutrients that you need while also adding in some that our body doesn’t make enough of. They help your body boost your immune systems, give you energy, etc.
I recently started taking daily multivitamins by Alani Nu. These give me the daily nutrients I need and you can feel the energy boost from the nutrients.
Just like anything else, taking too many vitamins can be harmful for you in the long run. Our bodies need at least 30 vitamins and nutrients that our bodies cannot make enough of on its own.
Taking vitamins on a regular basis overall promotes a healthy lifestyle since you are getting the nutrients your body needs but cannot make by itself.
If you are thinking about taking vitamins you should! Everyone has their different needs so do a little research and even recommendations from your doctor.
Having a good routine of taking your daily vitamins will provide your body with the nutrients it needs. You can buy an easy to use pill organizer to help you stay on track.
Sleep
Having a good night’s rest is vital to living a healthy lifestyle. Sleep is essential for our bodies to regain energy, boost our immune system, increase productivity, improves memory, etc. This is why we must try to get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night.
Our bodies are made to rest after a certain amount of time, if we don’t rest we are actually increasing our risks for disease. This can also effect your metabolism, cause you to stress more, inflammation, etc.
To avoid these, it’s best to try and work your schedule around so you can get a full night’s rest so you’re able to function properly.
Take Breaks
Taking breaks are very beneficial to living a healthy lifestyle. Our days can be so consumed with things we need to get done, but we forget to give ourselves a break some times.
Taking a breaks during your day gives you time and space to decompress a little from what you’re handling at that moment.
You can also benefit from taking breaks since they can make you more productive, helps memory, helps you be more creative, etc. It’s important that we don’t get so caught up on the go every day that you forget to take care of yourself. It’s happened to me!
This will increase your overall attentiveness and help create healthier habits.
Do Things The You Enjoy
Every so often find time to do things that you really enjoy doing. This will give you a break from your current stressful situations in your life. Do things that bring you happiness.
After a stressful day it’s always nice to end it with doing something that you enjoy. Having this attitude and routine, it will help you start making better choices in order to live a healthy lifestyle.
We all can get stuck in a routine, but making time to do the things that make you smile and sparks that joy in you is huge. Self love and self care is a big deal and we all should continuously work on our mind and body to achieve your version of happiness.
So don’t forget to treat yourself every now and then. It helps keep you balanced.
Eating Habits
I know most of enjoy a nice greasy slice of pizza more often than not, at least I know I do lol. It’s sometimes hard to choose the healthier option. Having a focused diet can help keep your mind get in a routine.
After a while, it gets easier to diet over time. In the morning you can maybe choose a healthier breakfast and a semi healthy lunch but then choose a “cheat” option for dinner.
This is a good way to start training your mind and body. And as the weeks go by you then switch to a healthy breakfast, healthy lunch, then “cheat” meal for dinner.
Within a couple months you should be at the point where you’re having all healthier meals throughout the day with a couple cheat meals throughout the week.
Remember that you can have fun with this. Eating shouldn’t just be boring, treat yourself and have fun as well!
Positive Affirmations
I know we have all heard that positive affirmations ca help boost our self-confidence, but in my experience these really do work. Doing these routinely can actually start to help. We all need a little motivation here and there, but the most important person that should be supporting you is yourself.
Believing in yourself first is necessary for others to believe in you. I advise us all to make time in our schedules for self care. Self care helps tend to our mind and body.
We need time to fully decompress sometimes and our lives can get so busy that we just keep pushing off our own self care time until we are starting to feel burnt out. To avoid that, take care of yourself! Make time for yourself, it’ll only help you live a healthier lifestyle in the long run.
